We are looking for two people who are passionate about working together to make sure our young people have the best opportunities, to join the Vale of Clwyd District Trustee Board.

What is a trustee?

The Trustee Board is a team of volunteers who work together to make sure Scouts is run safely and legally. At the heart of the role is a focus on strategy, performance and assurance. It is the governance backbone that allows our section volunteers to get on with what they do best: delivering brilliant programmes for young people.

Together, trustees make sure the charity is well managed, risks are assessed and mitigated, and everyone follows legal requirements and the Scout Association’s Policy, Organisation and Rules.

It might not be the most visible volunteering role in Scouting, but it is one of the most important.

What does it involve?

As a trustee you will attend regular board meetings, contribute to strategic decisions about the future of the District, and help ensure we remain a well-run, compliant charity. You will also help make sure the District has the financial foundations it needs, now and in the future. You will be a trustee of the Vale of Clwyd Scout Council which is a registered charity.

Who are we looking for?

You do not need to be a current Scout volunteer or have a background in Scouting. We welcome anyone who meets the eligibility requirements to serve as a charity trustee. We are particularly keen to hear from people with experience in areas such as finance, legal, HR, property, communications, or charity governance, but no specific background is required. Fresh perspectives are always welcome.

What support will you get?

You will be welcomed into the team, fully inducted into the role, and supported through mandatory learning covering safeguarding, safety, data protection, and inclusion. You will never be thrown in at the deep end.
