We’re really pleased to share the Vale of Clwyd District events programme for 2026. There’s a great mix of competitions, camps, and activities for all sections across the year, with plenty of opportunities for young people to develop skills, work together, and earn badges.
Please share the details below with your leadership teams. Booking for all events is via the Microsoft Form at the end of this email.
Important information on payments and deadlines is included further down, particularly for larger events.
🪵 Mini Pioneering Competition
Sunday 1 March 2026, 1pm to 3pm
Queen’s Market, Rhyl
Cubs
Teams of 3 to 5 Cubs will take part in a hands-on pioneering challenge using traditional Scouting skills. Each group may enter up to two teams. Explorer Scouts will support delivery and all materials will be provided.
Cost is £5 per team, including drinks, biscuits, certificates, and trophies for winning teams.
🔥 Backwoods and Cooking Competition
Saturday 21 March 2026, 10am to 2pm

Scouts and Explorers
A practical outdoor cooking competition where teams of 3 to 4 will plan, prepare, and cook meals over open fires. Scouts will complete a two-course meal, while Explorers will be challenged with a three-course menu. Alter fire pits will be provided. Teams should bring their own ingredients and cooking equipment.
Cost is £5 per team, including drinks, biscuits, certificates, and trophies for winning teams.

Sunday 26 April 2026, 1pm to 3pm

Squirrels and Beavers
A creative recycling challenge where groups build something amazing using reused and recycled materials. Groups should bring clean recycling items and basic craft tools such as scissors and tape. Each group will receive a theme on the day. A local recycling officer will judge entries and talk about sustainability.
Cost is £5 per group, including drinks and biscuits.
🥾 District Hike
Saturday 9 May 2026, 1pm to 4pm
Pavilion to Nova
All sections
A district-wide hike suitable for all sections, with an environmental focus including litter picking and discussions around caring for the outdoors. We will finish with some time on the beach at the Nova, weather dependent.
Cost is £2 per participant and includes a badge.
🏕️ Beavers and Cubs District Camp at Gladstone

Beavers and Cubs
A fully catered district camp with a packed programme of activities, games, and campfire fun. A camp badge is included.
Costs:
£45 per Cub for two nights
£30 per Beaver for one night
£10 per leader
£20 day visitors
Young Leaders and Explorer Support Team members £20
25% Deposit to be paid at booking.
Payment deadlines for Gladstone Camp:
• Deposit deadline: 27th March 2026
• Final balance payable to District by Friday 22 May 2026
These deadlines allow activities and catering to be booked in good time.
🏖️ Sandcastle and Sculpture Competition

Rhyl Beach
Squirrels and Beavers
Teams will design and build sand sculptures along Rhyl Beach, judged on creativity, teamwork, and effort. We are also hoping to include an organised visit to the RNLI lifeboat station.
Cost is £5 per team, including drinks, biscuits, certificates, and trophies for winning teams.
🌲 Scout and Explorers Skills Camp at Coxwood

A fully catered district camp focused on outdoor skills and adventure, including a camp badge.
Costs:
£45 per young person
£10 per leader
£25 day visitors
25% Deposit to be paid at booking.
Young Leaders may attend but will do so as young people rather than in a leadership role.
Payment deadlines for Coxwood Camp:
• Deposits to be paid by 3rd July 2026
• Final balance payable to District by Friday 18 September 2026

Squirrels and Beavers
A fun overnight sleepover designed for younger sections, with age-appropriate activities in a safe indoor setting. Further details, including costs and payment deadlines, will be shared once confirmed.
🧶 Handy Craft Competition
Sunday 1 November 2026, 1pm to 3pm
Queen’s Market, Rhyl
Cubs
Each group will run a craft activity as part of the competition. Cubs will also prepare a themed craft display in advance to be judged on the day.
Cost is £5 per team, including drinks, biscuits, certificates, and trophies for winning teams.
🎭 Panto Trip
Saturday 21 November 2026, 2pm
Rhyl Little Theatre
All sections
A festive trip to the pantomime at Rhyl Little Theatre.
Tickets are £7.50 per person. Further details will be shared nearer the time.
🏛️ Liverpool Museums Trip
Saturday 5 December 2026, time to be confirmed
Liverpool
Scouts and Explorers
A cultural trip to Liverpool museums, travelling by coach, with an overnight stay on Saturday night and return around midday on Sunday.
Final itinerary, pricing, and payment deadlines will be confirmed.
Payments and booking information
Payment for all events will be via BACS transfer to the District bank account. Invoices will be issued once a booking has been submitted through the form. Please ensure payments are made by the stated deadlines to allow events to be properly organised and booked.
