This year marks an incredible milestone for Russell Williams of 1st Carmel, who is celebrating 25 years of service to Scouting in Carmel and the wider Vale of Clwyd.
Over the past two and a half decades, Russell has played a vital role in shaping the lives of countless young people and volunteers. As Group Lead Volunteer, he has helped build 1st Carmel into a thriving, welcoming, and inspiring Scout Group — one that continues to go from strength to strength.
Although Russell is now stepping down from his role as Group Lead Volunteer, we’re thrilled that he will continue to be part of the 1st Carmel team, sharing his experience and passion with the next generation of Scouts and leaders.
Jacob Jones, District Lead Volunteer, shared:
“Russell has grown his group from strength to strength and leaves it in very capable hands. As someone who has been involved in Scouting in the Vale of Clwyd for over 18 years as both a young person and adult, Russell has always been a familiar, friendly and enthusiastic face. I’ve got many fond memories of cub camps in particular where Russell was always on hand to run Archery sessions. We’re so grateful and thankful for all he has done.”
To honour his outstanding commitment, Russell was presented with a Commissioner’s Commendation during Camp Clwyd — a well-earned recognition for his dedication and impact over the years.
The team at 1st Carmel added:
“Russell has given a massive part of his life to Scouting, and reaching 25 years of service is a fantastic achievement. We’re proud of him and grateful for everything he’s done — it’s only right he gets a big thank-you and moment in the spotlight.”
From all of us in the Vale of Clwyd, thank you, Russell, for 25 years of commitment, kindness and leadership. Your continued presence in the group means the world to us — and we’re excited to see what the next chapter brings.
