14 – 24 Team

The 14–24 Team supports and champions young people aged 14 to 24 across Vale of Clwyd Scouts, including Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members.

The team focuses on creating exciting, meaningful, and youth shaped opportunities that help young people develop skills for life, grow in confidence, and take their next steps in Scouting and beyond. They work closely with Sections, District teams, and young people themselves to ensure the 14–24 offer is relevant, inclusive, and inspiring.

This team plays a vital role in helping young people stay engaged in Scouting through their teenage and young adult years, supporting both participation and leadership development.

What the 14–24 Team does

The 14–24 Team supports young people and leaders by:

  • Supporting Explorer Scout Units and Scout Network across the District
  • Developing and coordinating programmes and events for 14–24 year olds
  • Championing youth shaped Scouting, ensuring young people help plan and lead what they do
  • Supporting leadership development, including Young Leaders, Explorers, and Network members
  • Creating opportunities for skills development, adventure, and personal growth
  • Encouraging progression into adult volunteering and wider leadership roles
  • Acting as a link between young people, Sections, and the District Team

Their work helps young people feel connected, valued, and confident to take on new challenges.

How they can support you

The 14–24 Team can support you if you:

  • Are part of an Explorer Scout Unit or Scout Network and want support or ideas
  • Want help developing engaging programmes or District level opportunities
  • Have young people interested in leadership, volunteering, or next step roles
  • Need support with youth shaped planning or youth involvement
  • Want to strengthen links between Groups, Explorers, and Network
  • Are looking for ways to retain young people within Scouting

They are keen to hear directly from young people about what they want from Scouting and how the District can better support them.

Building confidence for the future

The 14–24 years are a key stage in a young person’s Scouting journey. By offering the right balance of challenge, support, and opportunity, the 14–24 Team helps young people build confidence, independence, and skills that last a lifetime.

Through their work, the team helps ensure Vale of Clwyd Scouts continues to offer meaningful Scouting experiences for young people as they grow into confident adults and leaders.

If you would like to work with the 14–24 Team, or want to know more about opportunities for Explorers and Network members, please contact the District Team.
